Fulham v Arsenal - 17:30 live on Sky Sports 1
The Gunners make the short trip across the capital to face Martin Jol's Fulham at Craven Cottage, a venue where they shouldn't be dropping points; however they have done in three of the last five seasons.
The Cottagers (13/5) are a tricky side to beat and an even trickier side to figure out. They can take points from teams where you wouldn't expect them too (Chelsea and Arsenal away) and drop points to teams which they should be beating (Sunderland, Blackburn, Norwich etc....).
Fulham will be eager to pick up some much needed points from their London rivals as despite them being in 14th position they are just 5 points above the drop zone and looking over their shoulders. After conceding late at Norwich coupled with some shock results over the past few days they are definitely in the relegation mix. You get the feeling it's going to be a scrap for the rest of the season for them and I'm sure Martin Jol would take a repeat of the 1-1 draw (13/2) from the Emirate's earlier in the season if it was offered.
Despite their lowly league position Fulham do have some proven players in their squad and they will be confident of taking something off the Gunners. They have no new injury problems but the absence of Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora amid continuing transfer speculation may continue to stifle them. Orlando Sa led the line well at Norwich and got himself a goal in the process, he can be backed at 10/1 First or 7/2 anytime to score for the second game running. The likes of Danny Murphy and John Arne Riise (both 20/1 First, 7/1 anytime) are always dangerous and good value at big prices.
Arsenal (17/20, Draw - 23/10) earned themselves a 1-0 win against a resolute QPR side as Robin van Persie continued his mightily impressive goal scoring feats to lift the Gunners into the top 4. The Gunners have a tendency to drop points away from home with a record of 4-1-4 and it's certainly feasible that Fulham could share the spoils
Arsenal have the most inform striker in the league as van Persie is banging them in for fun - he is 3/1 to open the scoring and 8/11 to score at anytime, the prices are short but in the form he's in still good value. He is also available at 3/1 to score 2 or more and 16/1 for a hat-trick, plus don't miss our Match Winner offer of him to score more than Fulham at 3/1 - if RVP can fill the net, you can fill your boots!
Arsenal are not just a 1 dimensional team and have plenty of weapons for finding the net, Gervinho (6/1 first, 7/4 anytime) has scored a couple as has centre back Thomas Vermaelen (16/1 First, 6/1) who can score a few for a defender at decent prices.
In reflection this should be a high scoring game, Fulham's 9 home games have seen 28 goals while Arsenal's 9 away games have seen a whopping 39 goals! The over 2.5 goals is 10/11 (also 10/11 under) and over 3.5 goals is 9/4 (1/3 under) and both over's have a decent chance of paying out. On a correct score front Arsenal should win this and the score lines of Arsenal 3-1 (14/1) or 3-2 (25/1) look the most appealing punts but if you fancy Arsenal to do their usual and drop points then 1-1 (13/2) and 2-2 (14/1) are both good shouts.
Recommendations for this game would be:
Van Persie @ 8/11 anytime - keep taking advantage while he's scoring for fun
Arsenal -1 @ 12/5 - the Gunners should win easily and this represents good value
Worth a shot:
Danny Murphy @ 7/1 anytime - big price for the free kick and penalty taker
